The Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) is a worldwide nonprofit organization committed to advancing the study and application of mineral resources through geoscience. Established in 1920, SEG bridges academia and industry, offering its 6,000+ members across 100 countries access to research, education, networking, and professional growth opportunities.Through conferences, workshops, and publications, SEG fosters innovation in mineral exploration, resource assessment, and sustainable mining practices.
The NKUA Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) Student Chapter of Athens is an academic organization at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) which was re-established in April 2016 after some years of inactivity and brings together students and professionals interested in the field of economic geology. The chapter provides a platform for students to enhance their knowledge of mineral resources, ore deposit exploration, and sustainable mining practices through seminars, field trips, and networking opportunities.
The chapter consists of 30 members and strives to grow by welcoming new members with a genuine interest in economic geology, mineral deposits, and the exploration, assessment, and extraction of mineral resources. The Facult Advisor of the Student Chapter is Professor Stephanos P. Kilias.
